Marketing is an all-encompassing term that refers to many different aspects of sales and business. Numerous marketing strategies can help a company grow, increase its brand awareness and ultimately make more money. Some of the most common tactics in marketing are:

  • Offline Marketing-Offline marketing involves advertising on the radio, television, magazines, or newspapers. It also includes TV, radio, and newspaper advertising. Offline marketing aims to reach prospective and existing clients in a particular region. Offline marketing is more expensive and can provide a two-way conversation with customers.
  • Direct Marketing- this refers to the process of reaching out to existing customers and making sales. In most cases, direct marketing is done on a large scale through mass communication. For instance, they use a plastic postcard or on a smaller scale by calling on existing customers via phone calls or visits to their place of business by company representatives.
  • Sales Promotion- this marketing technique generally involves giving something away for free to promote a product. It can be as simple as a free candy sample or as complex as an unprecedented deal on a large purchase. A common misconception about sales promotion is that it is synonymous with direct marketing, but this could not be further from the truth.
  • Personal Selling- this refers to the process of selling a product or service by an individual directly to the customer. This includes door-to-door sales associates, store representatives, and telemarketing. Whether it’s a hot, cold call, or even a face-to-face meeting, one thing is clear: personal selling requires high confidence.

Marketing is an effective way to get your company noticed and gain new customers. Companies must be aware of the different marketing strategies available and choose the one that best fits their business needs. For one thing, you can choose a marketing strategy from any of the five categories above.
